Artist Statement

Aaron “Monu” (b. 1992) is an inter-disciplinary artist living in Atlanta, Georgia. As a self-taught artist, he began drawing, painting, and crafting at a young age. Now, he oscillates between various mediums and formats, treating each as an experiment and opportunity to change his own perspectives.

Inspiration for Monu’s work can be found in his love for natural landscapes - fostered by his adolescent summers spent in Nevada and adult years traveling to beautiful locations around the world. His practice studies the unseen energy behind natural design and through spiritual messaging, explores how that energy informs our experiences and allows reconnection to self and each other at the root of our beings.

In his paintings, he creates ethereal realms utilizing his technique of layering multiple pastel and earth tones in circular brush strokes. These strokes emulate the Fibonacci spirals that exist around and within us, expressing our ties to the world that sustains our lives.

Monu identifies as more of an explorer that uses art as a tool, observing laws of nature and showcasing them through the lens of abstraction and expressionism. He continually searches for the point of cohesion between the physical, mental, and spiritual, and what finding that cohesion means for humanity and our advancement.
