Exhibited September 29th - October 15th, 2023

From the Ground Up is an immersive and collaborative installation by Aaron Monu and Joseph Abu, presented by Grant & Little. It explores the relationship between nature, the manufactured environment, and their effect on our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world. Through the creation of a realm where art merges with nature and man-made elements, viewers are able to celebrate the inherent bond we share with the natural world while experiencing the irony of our ties to manufactured convenience. The exhibit brings new perspectives to our relationship with nature, ourselves, and each other. Themes of physical, social, and spiritual growth and decay showcase the beauty of the life processes that lead to personal enlightenment as it pertains to our collective well-being. This show is also related to the manipulation of natural elements to create objects and staged scenes for social commentary, artisanal expression, and beauty.

"From the Ground Up" is the point of cohesion between modernity and our roots that will hopefully cultivate a collective appreciation for that which sustains us and a new, grounded identity for humanity.
